EURASIAN
COLLARED-DOVE IN KANSAS
The first reported and confirmed sighting of Eurasian Collared-Dove in Kansas was in 1997 at Goodland in Sherman County. Local residents stated that the birds had been present since spring of 1996. Since then Eurasian Collared-Dove has been reported from 50 of the 105 counties in the state. Nesting has been confirmed in 11 of those 50 and is probable in several others where there seem to be expanding colonies.
The map below shows the occurrence of Eurasian Collared-Dove in the state graphically. Also included is a list of all sightings known of to date.
